This virtual program will feature Rev. C. Matthew Hawkins, Parochial Vicar at Saint Benedict the Moor Parish and Saint Mary Magdalene Parish. Fr. Hawkins' remarks will highlight the contributions of Dr. King during his lifetime and the impact his commitment, courage, sacrifices, and example have had in furthering equality, fairness, and justice in society. All program registrants will receive a selected compilation of books and videos for your review from Father Hawkins, titled: “What Does Catholicism Offer African American Families and Communities.”
The Race and Race and Reconciliation Dialogue Group invited school children in grades 3-8 from the Diocese of Pittsburgh to participate in the poster and essay contest to commemorate the theme Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr: “Never Give Up the Dream.” The poster and essay elementary school winners will be announced and the children will share their short essays with the virtual audience.
