Fr. Matthew will share the video "Six African American Saints in Waiting" based on a lecture at Norte Dame (2021) by Ernest Morrell, Coyle Professor in Literacy Education. The video runs for about 45 Minutes and includes a PowerPoint.
Dr. Morrell explores the lives of the six African American candidates for sainthood: Pierre Toussaint, Mary Elizabeth Lange, Henriette DeLille, Julia Greeley, Augustus Tolton, and Thea Bowman.
After watching this video, you will better understand the Black candidates for sainthood and why their lives matter to us today. You will also learn the prayers for their cause. Fr. Matthew will provide supplemental material to deepen our understanding of their journey to sainthood and how their lives have affected our ministries today.
